found bedbugs after moving in, moved out and got half of deposit back.

By hihihi

Hi,

I moved into a place and moved out three weeks later because of bedbugs. The landlord hired an exterminator immediately (very cool of him), but I wanted to get out before I moved all my stuff in from my car and the bedbugs infested it making me have to live with them for the rest of my life.

After a lot of arguing, the landlord agreed to give me back half my deposit and waive my utilities. He said I was lucky to get that since I broke the lease and should have gotten nothing, but I feel like I should get the whole thing back since it wasn’t me who brought the bedbugs in. Is a lease agreement void in situations like this?

I should also add that this was at the end of november, and it’s now the end of january. Too late or can i still do something?

Thanks!
