How do I hault an eviction

I am being evicting due to late payment of rent..I need more time to pay..How do I hault an eviction? the landlord went to court today and I will be served with a 24 hour notice by tomorrow to be locked out..how can I hault this,get more time and stop the lock out? Please help…

Are you on a lease? Because if you are and that includes a written notice that the landlord has the right to lockout then he can change the locks. But know that a lockout is not really an eviction; it’s just something that the landlord may need to do in order to force you to pay. I think it’s best if you first talk to your landlord about an extension. There will be late fees but as long as you agree to pay them and you can pay right on time, you should be okay.
