landlord charging me for for non exsitant damages

By tiffany

I live in Florida my family and i moved out of our apartment of one year, 9 months ago. we never heard anything from property managment co.yeaterday we received a collection notice stating that we have an outstanding bill of $3500.00 for damages that did not even exist. every claim on this bill is completely false. i am in the process of filling a small claim against them for my security deposit, because they did not send me notification of what my deposit was being held for as required by florida law. what kind of recourse do i have for the bogus bill?
