Landlord Problems

By Brianna Leubner

We rented with Kingston Greens in Apple Valley, MN. We moved in and immediately were getting bit by bedbugs, we called the management and they said to go through their exterminator to get it taken care of. We called and they came out and exterminated the apartment without us their they got let in by management. Then we got a bill from Kingston Greens saying we owe them for the extermination. We have been talking back and forth saying we do not owe, along with talking to the department of homes. Now we have moved out and they have sent us a bill saying they took our $300.00 damage deposit and we still owe a little over $300.00 for bed bugs and misc. repairs. Is it correct for us to pay for the bed bugs or is it the landlords responsibility?

Landlord problems

By Katherine Flores

The owner where I live follows all the High school kids around with a video camera, he has already harassed my son regarding some black kids that were not even with my son and later apologized to me for cussing my son out and threaten to kick us out. On 04/28/2011, 3 of my sons friends who are also black came by the house for my son, they were getting ready to go and play basketball and here comes the owner with the video camera and chases them off and then comes up to me and tells me these kids are little punks and have smart mouths, these boys have never been to my house and one of them live on the property, when I was telling him he does this all the time and I will just tell my son and can no longer have any company because I do not want them harassed he said I can just move by the 1st of June. today one of his managers came by to give me an eviction notice, what can I do about this because I believe he did it because I was standing up for myself because he was in my face and I told him he was wrong?

Hi Katherine, you did the right thing in confronting your landlord regarding the unpleasant behavior he’s been acting. With the illegal eviction, we have different grounds on that. If a landlord would like to evict a tenant it can normally only be enforced through the courts. He must lay all the reasons to the court and those reasons must be a valid one. So you could go ahead and check the notice, try to figure out why were you issued that eviction note and you can throw your questions on them. 😉 Best of luck!

landlord problems

My landlord has wrote a nusense notice on my door the day of rent. And has also given me problems about paying my rent. EX. refusing to take rent, tring to get a $25 late fee from me when I haven’t even been late. I have a 6month lease and have been there 3 of the months so far. Is there anyway that I can get out of my lease. It’s too much problems just tring to pay my rent and live at this place?

Thank-you,

Cindy
