lanlord control over incomming us postal mail

By Mommachick211

i was curious if it is legal for my landlord to stop mail that does not have my name on it. my seven year old son lives with me and has a different last name than i do. i have not received any mail from my sons school concerning screenings and such. also my boyfriend recently moved in with us and he obviously has a different last name than me as well. we have yet to receive any of his mail even though he placed a mail transfer in with the post office. due to this, we have not received important bills and tax information. we were informed by the mail man that our landlord had requested that only mail with my name on it be delivered. is this legal or should i proceed with legal action against our landlord?
