No heat vents in the room

Just moved in a few days ago and I noticed that none of the rooms have a heat vent but there’s a thermostat in each room. So I turned one to find out where the heat would come from. From what I can tell the heat vents are behind the dry hall. Is that’s a safety hazard? Wouldn’t that be dangerous and possibly cause a fire?
