Qualify for apartment

I have been renting this place for a year. It started out with 3 of us but one roommate moved out about 7 months into the lease. We have a new roommate but her credit score  brings us down too much so now we aren’t qualified to rent the same place. The landlord said he could re-run my credit but it would cost us fifty dollars a person. I told him that I had my own credit report site that was less money but he said he doesn’t feel comfortable with that. Is it legal for him to not except a credit report from me? I feel like I’m being lied too.

A landlord can set guidelines to accept renter based on whatever criteria he or she wants. Since renting out rentals is considered a business, the government does not require the landlord to allow renters to provide their own checks. Its completely up to them how they screen.

I think its weird your landlord wants to charge you another $50 to pull your report again. I don’t get why he wants to pull your credit report again you’ve already been renting from him for 7 months. I would think that your previous rent history should be fine. This sounds lame!
