Recovering my expense

By Bruce

Last year around this time one of the worker who was doing repair work for my landlord on the second floor stuck his foot through the ceiling by mistake around 10:00 AM. I needed to know how long it was going to take them to fix the ceiling because I had an appointment that morning. The workers didn’t know so I went over to the management office. They called the superintendent and the superintendent told them that they would not be able to fix the ceiling until the end of the day. Of course that did not sit well with me because I had to meet someone before the end of day. I then asked the secretary if they had an empty apartment that I can take a shower in. And she told me that the apartments were 100% occupied and she doesn’t know what to tell me. I then asked the secretary to call the owner of the property because I needed somewhere to take a shower to get ready for my appointment. She could not reach him at that time and said again that she does not know what to tell me. I asked the secretary to continue trying to contact him and let him know that I was going to check in to the hotel next door and send him the bill. I checked into the hotel took a shower contacted the secretary and she told me that the owner said that he would not be paying for the hotel. After I showered I went to my appointment then returned home. They had taken down the entire ceiling and left debris all over the bathroom. I then went into the kitchen area and found that the kitchen sink was backed up and clogged up. Now they stayed in there for hours and I could not get my dinner started. I just want the money back that I spent on the hotel. Do I have a winnable case?
