my landlord refuses to pay for hotel rent because remodeling bathroom takes time

By tony

My landlord told my two days in advance that she was going to do a small remodel of our bathroom that was going to take only two days.after the two days of not having a bathroom at all i contacted the landlord and told her that we were going to go rent a hotel because the contractor told me it was going to be up to 15 days before they complete.i asked if we could just take the hotel fee out of rent and she refused.it took 11 days for them to complete the remodeling bathroom.can i take her to small claims court for back pay and is what she did illegal?

This is a situation of false promises. However, it would depend on the law whether to allow you the chance to get back for your paid hotel fees. You are right about getting legal advise. You can also complain about your landlord through RPA’s complaint center at http://www.rentalprotectionagency.com/complaint_center.php
