Rent increase without notice

By Crystal

Hello,

My girlfriend and myself have been living in an appartment since october 2011. We signed a 6 month lease that was up march 31st, 2012. We are the appartment managers. Our rent began at $600 a month and was decreased by $300 for maintaining the grounds and helping the landlord as needed with other routine maintaince. We have fullfilled our duties without complaint. We decided we dont enjoy living here anymore and are moving so we sent our 30 day written notice with our $300 rent (which we have payed for the past 10months with no problems) to our landlord. In our notice we stated we would continue doing maintaince through the end of the month. After he recieved our notice he called us stating we were no longer to do the maintaince and that we owed him the other $300. Is this legal? I feel without notice it is not but I need some help here?
