Who is responsible for what?

By Tenant

When it comes to paying an exterminator for bug and pest infestations or repairs for a damage roof due to water leaking, who really is responsible for it? There are times when the bill is being paid by the landlord himself, the tenant or the bill is evenly split between the two of them. That is after determining who is responsible for the infestations or the leak.

If you are a prospective tenant always remember to read your lease agreement with regards to repairs and bug infestations before signing it. Make sure it is stated there who is responsible for paying when the bill comes because sometimes it becomes a very big issue between a tenant and a landlord. It is better to put everything in to writing to prevent future disputes.

By the time you experience problems in your apartment make sure before you rant to your landlord always review your lease agreement first. When it comes to repairs you can ask assistance from a professional to determine who is responsible for the damage in order for you to know if the responsibility for paying the repairman is yours or your landlord. You can also ask the professional what exactly is the cost of repairs if the responsibility of payment falls solely on the hand of your landlord or the apartment complex. Being a responsible tenant and having a good relationship with your landlord is the best key to live peaceful and stay long in an apartment you are renting.

Being a tenant does not stop with just paying the rent and the utilities, when problems arrive like pest infestations, water leaking and repairs sometimes you are still somehow responsible for it.  The determination whether a tenant or a landlord is responsible to pay the repair bills is very important.

Having to fight with your landlord because of repairs is really a fuss.

Preventing disputes is better than having disputes every time with your landlord.

As a landlord it a big hassle to our part to pay for repairs when in fact it was the tenant’s fault in the first place.

A good relationship with your landlord is really a key to solving repair problems in a breeze.
