Roommate’s mom living here

By

My roommate just got a boyfriend and is living with him so her room is empty.  Her mom is coming from out of the country so the roommate said that her mom is going to stay in her room.
My other roommate and I said that we don’t want this living situation.  If the mom is going to live here, then we want the roommate to come back and live with the mom, or else it would be really weird.
However, the mom said that since she is the one who actually pays for the rent, she can live there without any problem.  The mom says that if she prove that she is the one paying for the rent, then she can live there and kick the roommate out.   Apparently, she wants the daughter to live with the boyfriend or something.
The contract was signed by the roommate and not the mom, so is this even legal? I think that this is against our contract.
