The Landlord won’t do what she said she would

By lee sims

There were things that my landlord needed to repair after we moved into the house that we are renting.  She said that if we want we can get someone to make the repairs and just give her the bill and she would pay it.  There was a leaking pipe in the bathroom that the contractor repaired by going into the wall in the livingroom to repair it.  The landlord paid the contractor in full for the job thinking that he would be back to repair the wall.  Since he was paid in full, he never returned to repair the wall and the 4 ft by 1 ft hole sat exposed in my livingroom almost three months.  I asked her about the repair and she said that she will try to contact the contractor to come back to repair the wall.  We never heard anyting else about it.

My husband and I decided to do some painting but could not because the hole is still in the wall and the landlord is acting like it is not there.  We ask her about it and she continues to say that she is still trying to get in contact with the contractor.  This is 3 months later.  We decided to go ahead and get the repair made and give her the bill as she stated to us previously.  When I advised her that the wall was completed she yelled and said that she is not paying the full amount of the bill and will in fact pay for half.  How do I get her to pay for the full amount?  This was a statement that was made in front of myself, my husband and my mother-in-law.
