Verbal Lease Agreement

By katie

i would like to know, if there was never a lease signed, can the landlords come back to us 6 weeks after we’ve moved out with bills for “damages” that they had to fix after we left?  we had 2 walk-throughs with the landlords 29yr old dtr, and both times we were told that things were fine, and they were.

do they have a legal right with no written lease or agreement of any kind?

I moved into a home May 1. My landlord lives out of the area and was supposed to bring a lease by in early May. He did not. Now he wants to sell the home. We had a verbal agreement to rent for 1 year with the option to buy. Do I have any recourse? I am not in a position to buy right now.
