Water Bill

By kat

I lived in a complex for 2 years and paid a $30 water bill each month. After i moved out, i recieved two water bills totaling $613.27. The complex told me there was a leak in the toilet and even though it still worked fine and wasnt making any noises, that i was responsible for paying it because i didnt not turn this into management. I called the water company and they said this was way to high for a toilet alone and there is probably a leak in the apartment. Worse the complex was just bought out so both companies are saying i need to work with the other to get this resolved. Both are also saying that i have to pay this. Am i responsible for this bill even though i was not aware there was a leak?

The leak has to be proven first at least for me. Sorry your having issues like this. Negligence could lead you to paying this amount – If this is stated in your lease. My friend encountered same type of problem like this before. What she did was she tried to talk to the LL. But instead she ended up filing a compliant through RPA which turns out to be a good move since the RPA agent helped her out. You might want to consider both options.
