Wooten Co is trying to collect more money

By Rachael

I was formerly a resident of a Wooten Company property in Springfield, MO for over 2 years. My boyfriend and I chose our apartment because it was a great location and the landlord was super sweet. In the last year, things have dramatically declined. First, they changed our landlord with no notice, and then the new cleaning lady started to steal anything that was left outside in the hallway or laundry area. When we realized that things were not going to get better after the landlord threatened to charge me for other things, we decided to move. I notified our new landlady (who I have never even met) on the 2nd of October that we would be moving, with a letter in the dropbox. Then I left our keys to the vacated apartment and all of my information for her on October 31st. Since then I have only received incorrect information regarding charges they say we owe, including the value of 1 months rent because they say I did not give proper notice. I never even received notice of the move-out inspection and they also have no record of the deposit I had to give when I moved in. Now I am in a tough spot because they have sent my information to a collection agency, even though I have been trying to get this resolved non-stop since we moved out. I don’t know what to do because I cannot afford this on my credit report, but I also don’t think I should owe them anything.
