late rent/ eviction threats in wisconsin

I’ve just recently got a new landlord and all other months with my last landlord i have made my rent on time, in full, everytime. But this last month my hours were cut at my jobs and things have been super stretched. There is very little i can do by way of borrowing money, but i can’t make rent on time for one month. My landlord has very little understanding for it, if i’m late i will be served eviction papers. In wisconsin you can be a day late with rent and be served eviction papers. I like my apartment and i can afford to keep it, just at the moment it’s difficult to make TIMELY rent. What can I do? He refuses to understand the situation. How do i keep my home?
