Security Deposit (Painting?)
By Amanda
I lived in a house for 4 years and recently moved out. Per our rental agreeent, we put putty in all of the holes generated by pictures and 3 large anchors for bookshelves when we moved out. We wiped down all the walls, and made sure they were ready to be painted, if necessary. I just received an itemized listed from my landlord’s rental company with ridiculous deductions from our security deposit. The biggest one was was $270 for painting. Like I stated before, we filled in all the holes and wiped the walls down. After 4 years of living in a house, wouldn’t any "faded" paint be normal wear and tear?! I feel like I am being overcharged for this, as painting falls under the landlords responsibiilty in North Carolina. Any suggestions on how to handle this?
