Protection from greedy Landlord?

By Annonymous

We will be moving out of state at the end of the month and I have heard on several occasions that people who have moved out of this apartment complex have received exaggerated charges going well beyond the security deposit, at times trying to claim more than $6000+. We have treated this apartment very well and have fixed any damages we’ve caused. Is there anything I can do now to protect myself from this? My landlord knows that were moving out of state and I’m afraid that he will use this to charge us an even greater amount because he might think that we’re too far away to come back to create a case in a small claims court.
