Apartment isn’t ready on scheduled move-in date

By Blasian

The actual unit was not available for inspection on the date of the lease signing due to a "mix-up" with the keys so we toured a duplicate unit.  On the date of the scheduled move-in, the apartment unit was not cleaned AT ALL.  The refrigerator still contained molded and spoiled food and spills from the previous occupant, the sink was filthy with crustations and there were still crumbs left all over the cooktop.  Inside the oven was grime on the oven floor, walls, and door.  The bathroom was missing 5 light bulbs in a 7 light bulb fixture, there was a ring of human excrement in the toilet and the bathtub/shower was covered so thickly with scum that it made the white tub appear to be a different color.

Hey there! Every time a renter moves in, there is a move in spreadsheet that the renter and the landlord will have to check if everything is already on the right track. If you were not given that spreadsheet, maybe you need to ask the landlord why were you not given. If he will just disregard this thing, you can file a complaint from RPA (Rental Protection Agency). They will contact your landlord and will try to discuss every little thing with your issue. You can indicate any resolution you would like to get as well. Good luck! :)
