What i do for bed bug infestations ?

So I was at work last night and I didn’t get off until 1am. My wife left me a voicemail telling me that she found out what was biting her on the feet & heels. She told me that we had bed bugs. She showed me one that she caught & sure enough it is definatly a bed bug. I’ve never had to deal with bed bugs before, I don’t know where they came from. I don’t even know the first step on what to do…My apartment has a total of 6 units / 3 stories…do I call the landlord…do I write the landlord? What is my first move? I don’t know any of the laws; I’ve been googling all day long and have no sure answers. I can’t find anything about laws & bed bugs in Iowa. I have heard on the news that bed bug infestations are on the rise around the Cedar Rapids area, which is where I live…WHAT DO I DO? So frusterated…
