BED BUGS HAVE MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, AND FINANCIALLY CRIPPLED ME!!

If only I had found this out sooner…

As crazy as it may sound, my better half and I have mentally, physically, and financially suffered for over a year living with bed bugs.  When we first discovered them we informed the management and the owner, because the managers have limited control, we spoke directly to the owner, and of course, he faulted us, and refused to take responsibility.  He wouldn’t even agree to help us with the cost. Now over a year later, because we believe he has an inspection coming up, he has offered to pay for the exterminators, and pay the cost for us to move into a motel while he does well overdue renovations (carpet, paint, ect.) to our apartment.  He wants us to move everything including furniture out for 3 days.  He is renting a truck, where our worldly goods will be stored until they are done.  He will not let us get the apartment (including our furniture) exterminated first.  You could not imagine what our lives have been like, cant get proper sleep, have had to throw away almost all of our linens, have thrown away other items including clothing because the bug dodo has ruined it.  We could not afford a professional, so we have spent hundreds of dollars on foggers and spray that does not work. I have to sleep in 2 pair or thick long plants, 2 -3 pairs of socks, in order to minimize the bites, because I am allergic.  I now have black spots all over (mainly my arms).  Our mattress, sofa and are ruined, we cant get dressed daily without inspecting our clothing thoroughly. we have been socially abandoned, I could go on, but I really want to know CAN I SUE THE OWNER for damages, personal injury, mental stress and so on???  I’m am about ready for the crazy house …. at least I’ll get a good night’s sleep……
