Can Landlord remove carport w/out replacing?

By FrustratedInFL

We moved into our rental house about two months ago.  The whole experience has been very frustrating from the beginning and being almost 9 months pregnant, moving out anytime soon is not really an option.  Most recently my landlord has notified me that the carport that we park our cars under either has to be repaired at cost to me or she is going to remove it.  The carport is sloping inwards and the two handymen that she had look at it both said it was very dangerous.  They want to charge reasonable prices to fix it but she doesn’t want to pay.  I rented the house with the understanding of having a carport to protect my car from the trees overhead and the Florida Sun.

Yesterday she called me and told me that the owners prior to her never got a permit to build it – so she is going to have to remove unless I want to repair it myself.  I’m starting to feel cheated on so many levels and this carport issue is kind of a last straw – yet I am not sure what to do after this point.
My question is: Can my landlord remove the carport and not replace it? If not, then what actions or agency do I do/contact to maintain my tenant rights?
In case it is necessary, some of the other issues were:
– Not allowing us to move in for two days after our lease date, due to her son not moving out until the 2nd
– House was not cleaned and yard had overgrown weeds & broken glass all over (had to clean ourselves)
– One of the sheds in the backyard is so unsafe, the roof and backwall is collapsing so I’m scared to let my kids play in the backyard.
– Personal belongings remained in house for a month (had to call over and over again)
– Discovered there were no fire detectors in the house (took her a week to finally agree to pay for them)
– bedroom door was removed and she will not replace (still not sure what to do about this)
– Texts me at 10pm to tell me she is coming over the next day, but doesn’t say what time
The list goes on and although it seems like some small things, it is very frustrating being that we have only been here for two months and now our carport may be removed.  Ugh…
