Carpet replacement/cleaning

By SoCalRenter

I recently moved out of a 3 Bedroom home I was renting where there were pet stains & substantial wear on the carpet.

The rental company gave me a quote of $756 as a replacement cost for the entire house to be re-carpeted (40% of $1890 since the carpet was 6 yrs old). I would assume I would pay this because the carpet was pretty trashed when we left. It wasnt torn or damaged physically, just had a lot of high-traffic wear & stains.

However they also did charge me $225 for carpet cleaning on top of this charge. Are they allowed charge me for cleaning even though Im being charged for replacing the carpet?

 Any help would be appreciated.
