Have not had plubing for 5 days!

By Ryan

Last week our toilet started flooding the bathroom from the seal where the toilet meets the floor. Since then we have had sewer backup in our sinks and bathtub. We reported the problem immediately to our landlord. A plumber did not show up until late evening on the 4th day. When the plumber did show up he informed us that we had roots all through our line and that there was a large blockage where the house line meets the city line. He said that the only way to fix the problem was with excavation. What are my rights here? Can I have the landlord out us up somewhere till the problem is fixed? What should I do?
