LANDLORD IN DEFAULT, PUBLIC SALE IN 3 WEEKS

By EMMEM

I just received a certified letter addressed to "Occupant/Resident". I was in my rights to open it since I am the ocupant. It said the house is in default and the public sale is in 3 weeks.  My landlord has said nothing to me about this and I don’t think he knows I know. I’m planning to leave anyway, but should I pay him the next month’s rent while giving notice or should I ask to pay no more rent and let my final 2 months be covered by security deposit and last month’s rent?

Hey there. Don’t wonder if your place will be shown to others that will get interested of the place, that’s normal. In regards to the payments, as far as I know if someone gets evicted from the property you will still owe rent through out the end of your lease, legal rights allow for this. :) Good luck on looking for another place to stay.
