Landlord is a Tool

By mntexasgirl

I have lived and have been paying rent in this house for 3 months.  There are several issues that were addressed when we first moved in.  First and foremost, the old tenants had not fully moved out yet.  WE had 14 bags of garbage, huge amount of flys, a love seat, and a car in the garage.  We paid to have all of that taken care of.

Here are the current issues that I am having.  The only way that I am able to pay rent is by cash… he never provides reciepts and refuses to set up an electronic form of payment.  I dont have checks.

None of the repairs to the outside or inside of the home have been done.  Toilet not working, fire issue in fireplace and kitchen, no key for locking doors, no interior deadbolt, and no peep hole which I understand in Texas is a requirement of the landlord.  He keeps threatening to evict me for complaints.  Is there anything that I can do???
