Landlord rented property without making promised repairs

By Red

Landlord rented house he owns without making promised repairs. I have been living in this house for over 5 months and there were several cosmetic repairs to house that were supposed to have been done and have yet to be completed. I have sent him a request in writing, talked to him several times in person and by phone, and have recorded him saying those repairs would be made. I pay $700 a month for a 3 bed, 1 and 1/2 bathroom house. Is there anything legally I can do because I believe he doesnt intend to make the repairs and I think I am being overcharged to rent a  house that isnt in the condition it was promised to be in at the time of rental?? Please help.
