Landlord Violations

By Amber M.

Ok….so I have mulitple problems with my landlord, we have lived at our residence for 3 months and when we went to pay our rent at the end of the month my landlord went off the deep end about our neighbors, cursing and everything….threw my husband and I for a shock! After that we really didn’t know what to say but we get along with everyone and don’t have any problems. After that she was sending me harassing emails, who I am allowed to have over to the house, she keeps driving by, which I have no problem but she is causing problems with MY neighbors. She is calling my utility companies….just harassing and she has no need we have always paid on time. They never gave us a damage checklist until 10 days AFTER we moved in, there are no damages but I just want to make sure I am protecting our rights. And a few weekends ago they had mentioned about coming to do some yard work.  They brought 2 other individuals over that we don’t know and they were entering in and out of our premises all day long while we were gone. They never mentioned any of this to us and my husband is in the military and we have valuable items and documention that is in our house and believe that this is a violation to us. Our landlord mentioned that we could terminate our lease without penalty but never received anything in writing because he wants to sell the house. I also thought by law that they have to let us know where our security deposit is being held and they never gave us a certificate of compliance, not really sure if that is applicable in our county. We have just had enough, we have found another place because we have been violated and don’t feel safe living on these premises knowing the landlord has keys to enter our house at anytime.  What does anyone suggest I do about this.  I have sent a certified letter stating our violations to the landlord.  But with the pain in moving again and the cost we just want to make sure we get our deposit back because we still have 2 months on our lease yet and we are terminating early and giving a 2 week notice, but nothing in our lease states any time given or fees for early termination.
