loss of Internet/Television

By Caleb

Hello all, I am renting a house in southern Indiana that has a city construction project going on next door.  As a result of this project they are tearing down the telephone poles along the side of the house, which is where my power and cable are fed from.  The Landlord has told the cable company that she will not allow any connections to the front of the house and the cable company is saying that there is no other option.  Long story short no more broadband for me.

Here’s the kicker, I work at home and stream heavy amounts of data over a 50.0Mbps broadband service, now my landlord is telling me that I have no choice but to use DSL, which is $50.00 more expensive, less than half the speed, requires a $250.00 one time installation fee, and carries a 1 year contract even though my lease will be up in November.  the DSL speed is not sufficient for the work I do.  No work, no money, no pay and the landlord dings my credit.  I will also have to use DirectTV, which will also be more expensive and require a set up fee.
I have asked my landlord to pay all installation fees since her actions are forcing me into this single option or let me out of my lease.  Do I have any laws on my side?
