missing rent

By Alan Archer

Kirk Bowerman:
I just got back from the office of my apt complex. I spoke to the office manager who says they never received my rent check even though I put it in the hands of one of the office folk. I wrote out another check but he says I’m responsible for the late fees and he doesn’t remember getting the check. My wife and I both remember because we have the duplicate and we paid two months ahead. I already wrote out another check but told him we are not going to pay the late fees. On my way out he said the next month is going to be less the late fees. Is this right?

This happen to people more frequently than you think they do. You know what the common fault is? Yes, they hand it over but didn’t ask for receipt after. Now thing go the other way, and they can’t do anything about it.
