Sewage cleanup

By Rob

My apartment in Montclair NJ has had a pretty substantial sewage backup which has soiled my bathroom and the surrounding areas. My landlord wants my super to clean it up. Is this illegal? Shouldn’t a professional biohazard cleanup crew be sent in? What are my rights at this point?

That depends on your state. But generally, cleaning up sewage problems can be done professionally or not. The decision depends on time and money. If you want to, you can also contact your local health department and see if they have any guidelines on sewage cleanup. Hope that helps!
