By Benson

Lanlord of place I want to move in to wants to collect 1st month’s rent 45 days prior to actual move in date.  It is in the contract, but is that legal?

In my experience, the landlord was to collect the deposit and first month advance. Depending whats stated on your lease though. Have you read your lease?

If it’s on the contract, then it’s legal. Check your lease. Some tenants paid their one month rent before they moved to their rent. It depends on the agreement you have signed.
