Who owes who and who gets paid first

I have late charges and I have been issued my 3 day notice. I have sent in the check to satisfy the debt but management never received it. There is currently an investigation to resolve that issue between my bank and myself. Not clear on when a resolution would be found. In the meantime, management is demanding I come up with the late charges fee (which has accumulated to $800). I have just made this last month’s rent in full (without late fee) yet management wants to move forward with the eviction process.. PLEASE ADVICE..
