Bed bugs treatment costs

Hello,

I live in Chateau Knoll apartments in Bettendorf(52722).Yesterday ,on May 03,2012I complained to my leasing office stating that I am seeing bed bugs in my bed.Today on May 4 ,2012 they sent a professional and he found the bed bugs on my bed and couch.My landlord is arranging a heat treatment on tuesday May 08 and they want me to pay the costs associated  which would be $1200-$1400(According to them).They showed me a clause in my leasing agreement which states Tenant is responsible for the costs,due to tenant’s negligance.

But,this is not my negligance.I have seen the bed bugs in the common laundry area which is shared by other apartments and I think that might be cause for bed bugs getting into my apartment.I have taken the pics of bedbugs in my laundry.

Now,Am I left with no option other than paying the amount?If I sign the lease with the bed bugs clause,will I be bound to pay the costs?I want to file a complaint,but not sure how to proceed.
