leasing office wants my car title

Hello,

My BF and I share an apartment which recently changed ownership. The leasing office just notified us that our parking space is only for the person(s) named on the lease, which my name is not on. They also want verification of ownership (title), as well as bank information. This is a bit unsettling, my BF doesn’t even own a car, and I don’t want to give out my personal info.
