Breaking my lease because of mandatory work transfer. Need advise…

By

I am being transfered for my job and will need to break my lease agreement early.  I still have 4 months left of the lease.  They are trying to charge me 2 months rent plus 25% of the remaing months rent.  If I do not pay them, and let them submit the amount due to the credit bureau, can I get the amount waved with official paperwork from my company?  Please advise as I cannot afford to pay them!!! Thanks.

Notify your landlord as soon as you know that you must move. This gives her more time to find a new tenant for your apartment or rental home, and she may be more willing to forgive the cancellation penalties as a result. Offer your sincere apologies and be cordial. A little respect goes a long way toward getting the landlord to the negotiating table.
