Can tenant refuse lockbox?

By anonymous

I am renting a home in Naperville, IL. In the last month of my lease the landlord wants to show the home to prospective tenants and their agents by using a lockbox to access the home. I want to refuse the lockbox, it violates my safety, privacy, and right to enjoy the property.

I am willing to cooperate with showings by letting prospective tenants in with 24 hour notice, at reasonable hours. I believe that by doing this I am fulfilling my obligation to the landlord of providing free access to the property for purpose of shwing prospective tenants.

So my question is: Is it the landlord’s right to place a lockbox regardless of tenant’s position, or can tenant refuse lockbox, and if so, unnder what circumstances can tenant refuse lockbox???
