carpet repalcement

I have lived in my apartment for nine years and now I am moving out. Is there a "law" that requires the landlord to replace carpeting when I move out?

Is that the line your landlord gave you? haha. No, there’s no such law that requires a landlord to replace carpet. If so, that would mean that there is a law that require carpet in all rental properties.

I will say that ethically, your landlord should replace the carpet after 9 years. However, if he is trying to charge your deposit for replacing carpet, that wouldn’t be very ethical. Landlords can only charge you for carpet if you damaged it. Most likely after 9 years the carpet would have been worn out due to normal wear and tear. Either way, you shouldn’t be charged for it.

Nope! Theres no such law on the books that requires a landlord to replace carpet.
