deposit applied to repaint and repair

By ruby

we signed a yearly contract to the said apartment and we lived and stayed there for 2 years…until one day they asked us to renew a contract with option of 1 year or 2 mos. we signed a 2 month contract only bec. we are in the process of looking for a house to move… when we moved the manager said that the contract we signed stated that if you live in 1 year in the apt. and you move, you will be the one to repaint the apartment when you leave…that is why our security deposit of $800.00 was not even enough for the repainting of the apartment they gave us all the cost of repair and repaint total of $855.41 and now we still owe them $55.41 more…though, we dont have a picture to show…we left the house in good condition and clean….do we have a chance to fight for this issue?are they doing the right thing?thanks, hope you could help me.
