Do renters have rights to get their broker fees back if they rent a room infested by bed bugs?

Do I have the right to broker fee refund and/or rent discount from the owner of the apartment? My situation is summarized as follows:   
  
I started to rent this furnished (including infested sofa-bed) room of 2 bed room apartment 3 months ago. In the morning of the day after the move-in, I noticed I got a couple or three bug bites on my arms. But because I never heard of how notorious bed bugs were in my home-country, Japan, I just thought I was bitten by some insignificant insects and did not pay enough attention at that time. As the time went by, the number and frequency of bites were increased, then I finally looked up online, noticing the problem was due to bed bugs. I let the owner of the room immediately and he called the building super to deal with the bugs.  The room is under an extermination process.

Hmmm. Well, unless your lease agreement says otherwise, you normally won’t get refunds due to bedbugs. The only time that you would get a prorated rent would be if your lease agreement states that you pay for the treatment first then take it out of your rent. I know those bedbugs really BITE!
