Extreme heat + AC is out

By Jonesy

I reported our AC is broken to our landlord yesterday at 3pm and he said he would come, he didn’t.

He came by today at 3.30pm after calling and calling he caved in and came.

Suffice to say AC is broken and the AC company he uses will charge overtime on labour for doing a job over the weekend.

It’s 90F high today and will be with 70% humidity and not forecast to drop anytime soon, this is Florida!

So he’s making me and my 3 kids suffer the heat until monday at who knows what time.

Are there any laws protecting me in terms of extreme heat and my children?

In Virginia it needs to be at least 68. I am dealing with the same problem. Take video that prove the dates for every day that you are without air. My air spikes up to 80 and I have a 3 month old, and I cant open up the windows, because there are no screens, and im highly allergic to bee’s so I really cant chance one coming in. Im currently looking at the laws per state, here is the laws for your, copy and then paste this link in your search engine,

Fla. Stat. Ann. §§ 83.40 to 83.682

Or I found this for you

cdn.publicinterestnetwork.org/assets/LeMrpgDx23ksuwsXJvUavw/Renters-Rights-2.1.pdf

I hope this is helpful, and gets you, and your children out of the heat, and humidity!

My landlord used to excuse that its because im upstairs, I know upstairs bring more heat, but that doesnt mean my air shouldnt work!
