Hole in floor.

By tinker

I have a hole in my living room floor from a board breaking under my couch, i have told my landlord about it many times and still no one has come to fix it. I am afraid my son or I are going to hurt ourselves if we step on that spot or the hole will get bigger. What can i do to get him to fix my floor?

You need to approach your landlord about it, do not hesitate on doing it since you have your Renter’s Rights to Minor Repairs. Your landlord is responsible for keeping your rental unit in a livable room. Just keep in mind, however, that if a problem is the result of your carelessness the repair bill will be forwarded to you. If you do not pay for it, the amount may be taken out of your security deposit. If the hole in the floor is already in there before you rented it, then you can write a repair request, this will give you a chance to relate the problem clearly. One effective tactic is to explain that if the problem will not be fixed right away then it will get more costly to him in the future. 😉 landlords are sensitive to security issues as well, so you can point out any security risks created by your problem. Finally, if the problem affects other tenants then be sure to emphasize that. Alright?
