landlord cancel lease

By Edward Mosley

On 2/25/13 I went to the Nashville Housing authority to complain about needed repairs in my apartment, as 918 Cheyenne Blvd, Madison Tn 37115. As a result of my complaint, the inspector decided to reinspect my apartment. When he notified the manger of RiverRetreat of this inspection. My month to month lease was canceled the next day. I was told that I have until 3/31/13 to move. I am a vet, the VA refuse to help and I have not been able to reach anyone at the Fair Housing Authority

You can file a complaint against your landlord through the RPA because he is evicting you illegally. A landlord cannot evict you because you filed a complaint at the Nashville Housing Authority. That is a form of retaliation and that is against your rights as a tenant. You can read your state tenant laws for better guidance on this one.
