Landlord is suing me, can she do this

By kathi

6 weeks ago I mentioned to my landlord that I would be moving to Ca. I offered to sublet the home because it doesn’t state in our lease agreement that I can’t. She responded by email that she spoke with her realtor & decided to try to sell the home again. This is how I found the home to rent. Here I am exactly 1 week before move out date & I am served this morning that she is suing me for $6000 for breaking the lease agreement & I have 20 days to respond or judgement will be filed against me in this matter. Do I have any legal rights to this?? I have also aloud realtors in to take pictures of the home, it is currently on the market for sale through a realtor & I have been allowing the realtor in with potential buyers!! What are my rights on this matter? Thank you for all your help in this matter. Kathi
