LL harrassment hardship release of contract

By Scott

I have been living in a complex 17 months now. About a year ago the LL and or its agents "maint men" started following my 15 year old son around. They stated on several occasions they seen him and another boy walk into the woods off premiss smoking something. One day they call the police who showed up and searched them. They stated they could smell marijuana but nothing was found not even a lighter.
Then 2 months later we are sitting in our apartment and the LL comes banging the door of my hinges stating there was a "knock down drag out" in my apartment. I told her she had the wrong apt. 3-4 months later I get a call on my phone stating they found another "coke can" like the one in the woods supposely used to smoke pot in. I never seen the can and we have 7 other families in this building. So 3 months ago Im sitting here and the cops come knocking on my patio door. I answer and they state the maint guy had called stating someone climbed out of 1 of my windows. We found it was my son but the maint guy knew who it was and called the police anyway. Then my son 4gets his key last week and climbs in his window. The same maint guy takes a picture of this and tapes it to my door. We feel we are being followed watched and harrassed and want to break the lease here. We feel we are living under a dictator and want to leave as soon as possible. Would be have a case if they suided under a hardship release due to harrassment?

I understand how hard it must have been for you but you can only break the lease under the terms and conditions of your agreement. All you can do is speak to the landlord and HOPE he will agree to release you from the lease. If he refuses to cooperate, better address your concerns in your state housing division.
