over sensitive neighbor

By Gabrielle

I just moved into my apartment in January and the first week as we were moving in our furniture, our neighbor already started complaining about the noise.  Yes, we were moving in furniture so we probably were making noise but now three months later she is still complaining.  We received a notice to cease: New Jersey Law (N.J.S.A. 2A:18-61.1 et seq) related to the noise complaints.  The problem is "what noise?".  I go to school during the day and work until 11pm at night and go right to bed when I get home.  I have a 9 month old son that just crawls and is a very good baby.  He rarely cries, even during his teething period he was just fussy and rarely cried.  My fiance works from early in the morning to late afternoon.  Most of the time its just one of us and the baby.  We are a young couple but very old fashion.  We do not go out on the weekends and rarely have friends over.  The times the neighbor has come to the door we were not making noise and could not understand her complaint.  We do not want any trouble so when she came to the door just gave her an OK and closed the door.  We are concerned now because the rental office has now given us a notice to cease order.  This is so unfair.  How do we protect ourselves?  We have been extra careful about walking down our stairs and about the level of our electronics, it is immpossible to be any quieter.  How do we defend ourselves against these false complaints.  It has caused us a great deal of stress and we cannot be comfortable in our own home.
