repairs from storm damage -tenant rights

By dru

if a storm takes off the back deck of the oceanside house you are renting (and breaks a window), is the landlord supposed to get that fixed or can he wait till the end of lease, when he moves back in.  We rented this place to enjoy the deck and ocean when possible, a storm took it out for the most part 3 months ago.  our renting nieghbors deck was repaired.  our landlord is planning on it when we leave.  that doesnt seem  right to me as we cant use the very reason we rented, the deck. We are from Kansas, this is a big deal to us.  we have lots of company coming in the spring….now no deck.

Based on most leases a landlord would really need to fix it. You should file complaint. http://www.rentalprotectionagency.com/complaint_center.php try visiting that site.
