Responsibility to pay for exterminator

By New York

I am wondering if anyone knows who is responsible for paying for an exterminator to come in and spray for Cockroachs. I am being overrun by them!

If your apartment is being over run by cockroaches it is probably the responsibility of the landlord.  It really comes down to a couple of things:
1)  Did the landlord have you sign an addendum or condition in the lease agreement that holds you responsible for extermination cost?
2)  To what extent is the cockroach infestation?  Is it standard for the area, or is there more than usual?
