Shattered shower door

By Michelle

I am a tenant and was getting out of the shower and was closing the shower door, when it shattered in million pieces.  It seemed stuck, but took little effort to loosen and did not slam against the wall.  It seems to swing a little.  There seems to be nothing that keeps it connected to the tub, and seems like it should have had some type of track to keep it in place.  I got cuts everywhere and it scared me to death. I reported it to the landlor and manager.  He said that it had to be my fault and that I am required to replace it.  Please advise.  I was doing nothing but getting out of the shower and attempted to close it as I do each morning.  The shower in the other bedroom appears to have a track on the bottom.  Please advise if I have any rights.  Thank you.
